The latest updates to the Web site ClarkeCountyLife.com have been made to help users find Osceola and Clarke County’s local activities through a simple, mobile information portal.
With the growth of the community and organized groups becoming more abundant, tracking and coordinating information for activities throughout the area was becoming a challenge. While most organizations post their activities to their own Web sites or to social media, reminding the community to check various web sites or making sure the information stays top of mind was still a problem. That’s where the Clarke County Development Corporation (CCDC) decided to step up and help.
While the Web site ClarkeCountyLife.com has always focused on providing up-to-date news and information on local businesses, organizations, and events, pulling together a one-stop portal for the community’s activities became a priority for the CCDC board in their 2019 strategic planning meeting.
“We’re thrilled about all the events and activities that take place in Clarke County,” said Bill Trickey, CCDC Executive Director. “We wanted to make sure there was a place where anyone looking for something to do in Clarke County could find all the available information.”
The Web site’s updates include a completely overhauled landing page that is seen when users access it from their mobile devices. Users are presented with a curated list of activity options available throughout the community. As of last week’s launch, the portal already hosted links to the various activity calendars, pages for restaurants, and entertainment, information about and interactive directions to parks and recreation locations, Osceola’s golf course, the City’s web site, and more. The administrators of the site predict more activity options and more access through the site as awareness of the portal continues to grow.
On many devices, when a user accesses ClarkeCountyLife.com through their mobile browser they’ll be prompted to save the startup icon to their device home screen, creating a custom “mobile app” feel. As activities are added throughout the year, users simply need to click the icon and launch the site to find the most recent information on local activities and locations. Users accessing ClarkeCountyLife.com through desktop browsers are given the option to click on the “Activities” link in the main menu to access the same list of options.
“This is a win-win for everyone involved,” said Trickey. “Businesses and organizations get another access point to community members and visitors and users have one-click access to local activities right in the palm of their hand.”
To access the new ClarkeCountyLife.com activities portal, simply open the web address “https://clarkecountylife.com” in your browser. Access to the activity links are located on the mobile landing page and for desktop users, the “Activities” link in the main menu will take you to the options. Directions for downloading the mobile launch icon are accessible through the landing page as well as upcoming flyers and information that will be distributed throughout the community.
