Clarke County Public Health is proud to announce their new Bike Share program is ready for Osceola and surrounding communities!
Osceola boasts some beautiful parks and colorful scenery at this time of year, and Clarke County Public Health has made it easy for you to get out and enjoy it all! On the city square near the East entrance of the Courthouse, there is a brand new bike stand with bicycles for rent to take in all that Osceola has to offer!
Quick, easy and affordable, the new Bike Share program is perfect for experienced bike-riders to explore the city or simply get in some exercise while enjoying the comfortable temperatures of a Southern Iowa autumn. Simply download the Movatic app to your smartphone and follow the prompts – it’s that easy! You will be asked to input some information like your name and phone number and then enter the code you receive through text to reserve and rent bikes for a fun and healthy adventure in your own city. Click the PDF links below to download step-by-step instructions.
Bike Share Program details are as follows:
- Rental hours are 6am-9pm, 7 days a week
- Rentals cost $3 a day per bike
- Limit of 2 bikes rented to one person at a time
- Bikes will be available as long as weather permits – once snow hits the ground, they will be gone until spring!
Donations from local businesses like Clarke County State Bank and grants from organizations like CCDC have been instrumental in bringing the Bike Share program to life. The small rental fee will be used for maintenance and program improvements, with plans to install a weather-protection awning, a plaque to thank the generous program donors, and to build the Bike Share to allow for weekly and monthly rentals.
We in Clarke County are fortunate to have a Public Health Department staffed by such an innovative group of health professionals,” said Bill Trickey, executive director of Clarke County Development Corporation.
While the bikes currently available aren’t suitable for small children, families are encouraged to take advantage of Bike Share to get out with their kids on their own bikes to promote a healthier lifestyle for the whole family. The Movatic app is free to download and is available for any smartphone, whether you have an iPhone, an Android cell phone, or a Windows platform. The inviting fall weather and vibrant foliage won’t last for long, so be sure to reserve a bike or two for your own sight-seeing adventure today!
