The Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) recognized the top lenders throughout Iowa for their efforts in advancing affordable homeownership through the Iowa Finance Authority’s programs in calendar year 2015.
Vicky Halvorsen, Vice President / Real Estate Banking for Clarke County State Bank, was awarded the Iowa House Hunt Award. Individuals receiving this award successfully referred their homebuyers to the Iowa House Hunt initiative for homeownership resources in 2015.

The initiative is a new educational campaign designed to put a spotlight on bonuses available to Iowans purchasing a home and ultimately awards one winner a $5,000 check. In November of 2015, with Halvorsen’s assistance, Osceola’s Amanda Blair was awarded the $5,000 prize to put toward her new home in Ames, Iowa.

The IFA campaign is designed to educate buyers about affordable mortgages, down payment assistance — including a special program for military service members, federal tax credits of up to $2,000 each year, Iowa Title Guaranty and more.

The Iowa Legislature created the Iowa Finance Authority, the state’s housing finance agency, in 1975 to undertake programs to assist in the attainment of housing for low- and moderate-income Iowans. Since then, the Iowa Finance Authority’s role has grown to include nearly 40 affordable housing, water quality and agricultural development programs. The Iowa Finance Authority is a self-supporting public agency.
