Clarke County, Iowa – Clarke County Comprehensive Plan Update Draft Available for Public Comment

A complete draft of the update to the Clarke County Comprehensive Plan is available for public review and comment.  Copies can be downloaded in PDF format at www.sicog.com.  This plan updates the previous plan adopted in the mid 1990s.  As its name implies, it covers several issues related to land use and property management topics.  These include things like housing, economic development, agriculture, natural resources, hazards, infrastructure, transportation, and facilities.  In the plan are tables, charts, maps, and information about the kinds of projects and policies the County should pursue over the next twenty years.  The plan was prepared by the Southern Iowa Council of Governments of Creston with the support of the Clarke County Planning and Zoning Commission and Zoning Administrator, as well as other public officials and residents of the county.clarke county iowa

The Commission invites members of the public and other interested parties to review the draft and direct comments and suggested changes and edits about the plan to Jeremy Rounds of the Southern Iowa Council of Governments at 641.782.8491 or [email protected].  Comments will be accepted through December 31, 2017, after which time the Planning and Zoning Commission will take action to recommend adoption of the plan to the Clarke County Board of Supervisors.

If you have any questions about the plan or its purpose and potential impact on you, please contact Mr. Rounds as outlined above or Byron Jimmerson, the zoning administrator, at 641.342.6654.
