SIMCO Drilling Equipment, Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Machinist / Machine Shop Technician to join our manufacturing team in Osceola, Iowa. This is a full-time position working in our machine shop to produce precision components used in the manufacturing of SIMCO drilling rigs and equipment.
Since 1971, SIMCO Drilling Equipment has been designing and building hydraulic drilling rigs used worldwide for water wells, geothermal drilling, environmental and geotechnical exploration, and construction applications. Our equipment is known across the industry for reliability, durability, and precision engineering.

Position Summary
The CNC Machinist / Machine Shop Technician will be responsible for operating and programming CNC equipment and other machine shop tools to fabricate and modify precision components used in drilling equipment manufacturing. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and capable of working independently while maintaining high standards for quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and program CNC machining equipment including mills and lathes
- Operate additional shop equipment such as band saws, plasma tables, and other machining tools
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
- Measure and inspect machined components to ensure accuracy and quality
- Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot machining issues
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized machine shop environment
- Work collaboratively with engineering and production teams to improve processes and efficiency
- Ensure all work meets SIMCO’s quality standards and production schedules
Qualifications
- Experience operating and/or programming CNC mills and lathes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Familiarity with machine shop tools and measurement instruments
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial machine shop
- CNC programming experience
- Familiarity with metal fabrication processes
Work Schedule
- Full-time
- Monday – Friday schedule
