Team Blue Iowa representatives, Mark Good and Bill Potts, visited with Clarke County Hospital CEO, Brian Evans, and Foundation Coordinator, Tom Bahls, on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, to present a donation in the amount of $7,500 to be used to address prostate cancer awareness in the community and to provide patient support services.
Team Blue Iowa raised over $100,000 through annual events and activities, including an awareness dinner, golf tournament and 5k run/walk. These funds were donated to healthcare entities in central Iowa.
The Team Blue Iowa Mission: Providing Support and Awareness to Iowans Affected by Prostate Cancer.
- Most common cancer in men – 33% of all new cancer cases in men are prostate
- 10% of all cancer deaths in men are due to prostate
- 67% of men (1 in 6) will get prostate cancer
- 6% of Iowa men had a PSA test within the last year
- 2% of Iowa men had a digital rectal exam in the last year
Clarke County Hospital will use these funds to increase awareness of prostate cancer in our community and by providing solutions and services that address testing for prostate cancer.
